(Adnkronos) – The statue of Hafiz al-Assad, president of Syria until 2000 and father of current Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad, was torn down by jihadists and armed rebels who took control of the city of Hama. Videos and photos of the statue being torn down have been shared on social media to the cheers of those present.
