(Adnkronos) – ‘Killer’ liquor has caused a massacre in Istanbul. Authorities have announced that at least 17 people have died after drinking adulterated alcohol in the city on the Bosporus and have confirmed ten arrests in connection with the case.
According to the Turkish agency Anadolu, a total of about fifty people were hospitalized with symptoms of poisoning and 17 later died. Another seven were discharged.
In Turkey, taxes increase the prices of alcoholic beverages and this would be the origin of illegal production.
