(Adnkronos) – “Suspended” from office and under investigation for “serious violations of discipline”. It happens in China, to General Miao Hua, one of the members of the powerful Central Military Commission, considered close to President Xi Jinping who has relaunched the anti-corruption campaign in the army. The news came directly from the Ministry of Defense, as reported by the South China Morning Post.
It is unclear what the allegations are against the general, until now head of the Political Work Department of the Central Military Commission. But the “serious breach of discipline” usually refers to allegations of corruption.
The news comes after the Financial Times wrote yesterday that the Chinese Defense Minister, Admiral Dong Jun, former commander of the Navy chosen for the post in December last year, would be under investigation for corruption. These are “speculations”, they immediately replied yesterday from Beijing after last year Li Shangfu, the head of the Ministry of Defense, was removed from the leadership after just seven months in office, on suspicion of corruption. His predecessor, Wei Fenghe, had ended up under investigation for the same reasons. According to the Afp agency, since summer 2023, around twenty officials, including military and defense industry leaders, have been removed from office.
