(Adnkronos) – “As I did in my first term, I will always work from the centre. Because we all want the best for Europe and the best for Europeans. So now is the time to come together”. These are the words of European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, speaking at the plenary session of the European Parliament in Strasbourg.
“Overcoming divisions and reaching compromises – she continues – is the hallmark of any vibrant democracy. And my message today is that we want to work with you in this spirit. We will be guided by the political guidelines on which this House voted. And by the mission letters in which I address the concerns you raised during the hearings. And as I said before the July vote, we will work with all the pro-European democratic forces in this House”, she concludes.
