(Adnkronos) – The United States Senate rejected overnight some resolutions presented by Bernie Sanders to ban the sale of arms to Israel. Only 18 senators (all Democrats) voted in favor – and 79 against – the texts that wanted to block the sending of ammunition for tanks, mortar shells and kits to transform the so-called ‘dumb bombs’ into precision bombs.
“According to the United Nations, much of the international community and all humanitarian organizations present in Gaza, Israel is clearly violating international humanitarian law. Under these circumstances, it is illegal for the US government to provide Israel with other offensive weapons. The United States cannot be complicit in these atrocities,” said the independent senator from Vermont.
