(Adnkronos) – The agreement for the appointment of the six designated executive vice-presidents of the next European Commission is now “done”, so much so that the coordinators of the political groups in the respective committees should meet this evening at 6 pm, in Brussels, to approve the assessments of the candidates not yet ‘promoted’, including in all probability the Hungarian Commissioner Oliver Varhelyi. Adnkronos learns this from parliamentary sources. The agreement was supported by the vast majority of the EPP, except for the Spaniards, who are “on the warpath”. The agreement reached, which “leaves divisions everywhere”, should allow the European Parliament to vote in plenary on the entire college next Wednesday in Strasbourg. (follows)
