(Adnkronos) – Russian President Vladimir Putin has donated dozens of animals to his friend Kim Jong-Un, supreme leader of North Korea, to be displayed at the Pyongyang zoo. The Kremlin announced it, in a new chapter of the rapprochement between the two allied countries against the West and in the conflict in Ukraine. “An African lion, two brown bears, two domestic yaks, five white cockatoos, 25 pheasants of various species and 40 mandarin ducks have been transferred from the Moscow zoo to the Pyongyang zoo”, the Russian Ministry of Natural Resources informed.

Minister Alexander Kozlov stressed during his institutional trip to Pyongyang that the animals are a “gift from Vladimir Putin”. His ministry released a video showing the animals, locked in wooden crates, being unloaded from a cargo plane. Images of the young lioness in her new glass and concrete enclosure at the Pyongyang zoo were also published.

Vladimir Putin had recently given 24 thoroughbred horses to Kim, who had reciprocated by giving the Russian president two Pungsan dogs, native to the Kaema Plateau in North Korea.
