(Adnkronos) – There are said to be more than 906,000 casualties, including dead and wounded, recorded among the ranks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. This is the figure reported by the Russian Defense Ministry and the Tass agency a thousand days after the start of the conflict in Ukraine, triggered by the full-scale Russian invasion launched on February 24, 2022.
According to data from Tass and the ministry, this year alone Ukraine’s losses would have exceeded those of the first two years of conflict and the overall toll – difficult to verify independently – would be around 906,500 dead and wounded.
Neither Moscow nor Kiev have yet released precise bulletins on their respective losses. In recent days, the New York Times, citing US military and intelligence sources, reported 57,000 Ukrainian soldiers killed, a figure that would be about half the Russian losses. NATO estimates Russia has over 600,000 dead and wounded and Western intelligence sources report 200,000 dead and 400,000 wounded among Russian forces. According to the Kiev government, more than 722,000 Russian soldiers have been killed or wounded since February 2022.
