(Adnkronos) – It is Oman’s National Day. For many it is much more than a simple celebration, a way to remember the history of the sultanate. A “glorious” day in the name of “renewed renaissance”, say the Omanis. Sultan Haitham bin Tarik Al Said attends the military parade, the culmination of the celebrations, which is held on the occasion of the 54th National Day.
“The United States is proud to call Oman a friend – US Secretary of State Antony Blinken underlines in a statement – We are grateful to the leadership of Sultan Haitham bin Tarik Al Said who continues to strengthen our strategic partnership for the benefit of citizens of both countries”.
In Oman, the United States recognizes that it has “demonstrated its leadership in promoting peace, stability and prosperity in the region”. And, Blinken adds in the statement, the Strategic Dialogue “gave us the opportunity to define the next steps in trade and investment, clean energy and education, science and culture”. The hope for the “years to come” are “even stronger ties”, from the economy to security.
The Sultan, reports the official Omani news agency, “has received congratulatory messages on the occasion from kings and leaders, hereditary princes, heads of government, organizations, bodies and senior officials from fraternal and friendly countries”. The hope is for “good health, happiness and long life to His Majesty”, with the request “to Almighty God to give His Majesty help, advice and success in leading the people of Oman to achieve the prestige, progress and prosperity to which they aspire”. Messages, the agency adds, which include the hope for “progressive growth, continuous development and a global renaissance”.
The military parade will be attended by symbolic units representing the Royal Army of Oman, the Royal Air Force of Oman, the Royal Navy of Oman, the Royal Guard of Oman, the Sultan’s Special Force, the Royal Oman Police, the Royal Court Affairs and the Joint Military Band. Present were representatives of the royal family, ministers, presidents of the Council of State and the Shura Council, advisors, commanders of the Armed Forces, heads of the diplomatic corps of Arab and foreign countries accredited to the Sultanate of Oman, judges, delegates of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, sheikhs and dignitaries.
