(Adnkronos) – The Guardian, the historic newspaper of the British left, has announced that it will no longer publish content on X, the social network owned by Elon Musk. In a message to readers, the newspaper – which has more than 80 accounts and about 27 million followers – explained that the benefits of being on the platform are outweighed by the negatives, citing the “often disturbing content” that is disseminated.
“It’s something we’ve been considering for some time, given the often disturbing content promoted or found on the platform, including far-right conspiracy theories and racism,” the Guardian said, adding that the US election campaign “has only served to underline what we have long believed: that X is a toxic media platform and that its owner, Elon Musk, has been able to use his influence to shape political discourse”.
