(Adnkronos) – “There are no winners in a tariff war or in a trade war. Nor would the world benefit from it.” This was stated by the spokesman of the Beijing Foreign Ministry, Lin Jian, following the Wall Street Journal article according to which China, after Donald Trump’s election victory in the United States, is considering ‘courting’ Washington’s allies in Europe and Asia with ‘gifts’, from tariff cuts to visa waivers, from Chinese investments to other incentives.
Trump, who is about to return to the White House, has threatened tariffs of 60% on Chinese products. China, reiterated the spokesman for Beijing’s diplomacy, is “in favor of a fair and orderly multipolar world” and is for “an inclusive and mutually beneficial economic globalization.” The Asian giant reiterates that it is “ready to work with all parties for true multilateralism, to build an open world economy, support sustainable development and bring countries together to face challenges” in the name of the goal of “common prosperity.”
