Russia accuses Canada of sabotage, Moscow summons embassy’s deputy chief of mission

8 Novembre 2024

(Adnkronos) – The Russian Foreign Ministry has summoned the deputy chief of mission of the Canadian Embassy in Moscow to inform him of the possible adoption of measures “against provocations against Russia” for the accusations of sabotage made by the Canadian government. The ministry made the announcement, stressing that the accusations that Russia intends to attack NATO countries in this way are nothing more than “falsehoods.” “The deputy head of the Canadian diplomatic mission in Moscow was summoned and presented with an official note in connection with the false accusations of alleged planned ‘Russian sabotage’ against NATO countries”, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

Moscow summoned the Canadian diplomat to reject Western accusations that Russian intelligence orchestrated a campaign to send parcel bombs to NATO countries, including Canada. After a series of fires at Dhl depots in Britain and Germany this summer, Russia was accused of being behind a plan to ship parcel bombs via commercial airliners. Earlier this week, Canadian media reported that Ottawa had expressed concern to Russian authorities after Poland and Lithuania announced several arrests following an investigation into attempts to send packages packed with explosives on cargo flights to the US and Canada.
