(Adnkronos) – In the six months between November 2023 and last April, almost 70 percent of those who died in the Gaza Strip were women and children. This is the denunciation made in an investigation by the United Nations Human Rights Office into the victims of the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas in the Palestinian enclave. This is ”a staggering number of civilian casualties”, the UN said.
The UN Human Rights Office said it had verified the identities of 8,119 of the more than 34,500 people presumed killed during the first six months of the war, finding that “nearly 70 per cent were children and women”.
