(Adnkronos) – German Transport Minister, the liberal (FDP) Volker Wissing, has decided to remain in office after the exit of his party’s ministers from the three-party coalition government. Wissing has also chosen to leave the FDP.
In a press conference held this morning, Wissing announced that Chancellor Olaf Scholz had asked him during a private conversation if he wanted to remain minister and that he had replied affirmatively.
He then informed the leader of the FDP and outgoing Finance Minister, Christian Lindner, that he would be leaving the party, with no plans to join another political movement at the moment. “I am not moving away from the fundamental values of my party”, said Wissing. It is a personal decision: “I want to stay true to myself”.
