(Adnkronos) – A 56-year-old woman died and 73 people were injured in Taiwan after the powerful Typhoon Kong-rey made landfall in Chenggong, in the southeast. Local authorities reported that the woman died in Nantou after a tree fell on her car.
Meanwhile, the eastern Chinese province of Fujian is on high alert and has suspended rail and sea links due to the approaching typhoon. In Taiwan, on the other hand, all schools have been closed and the streets of Taipei, where heavy rain and winds are recorded, are largely deserted. Furthermore, 35,000 soldiers are ready to intervene to provide assistance.
