Sudan, government accuses Emirates and countries in the region of arming Rapid Support Forces

31 Ottobre 2024

(Adnkronos) – The Sudanese government claims that “from the available intelligence information and the report of the group of experts from the Security Council, there is conclusive evidence that several countries, led by the United Arab Emirates” offer “full military, financial, logistical and technical support” to the Rapid Support Paramilitary Forces since the outbreak of the war against the regular army on 14 April 2023. “This – states a note released by the Sudanese embassy in Italy – prolongs the war and affects not only the security and stability of Sudan, but also that of the region and the entire continent”.

The note states that “the inability and total silence of the international community, which does not correctly define the Sudanese crisis as an aggression against the people and their resources with the use of the terrorist militia that rebelled against the legitimacy of the State, is still one of the most important reasons for the worsening humanitarian crisis” in the African country.

“Therefore – adds the note – the international community must classify the militia as terrorist. And hold it accountable for its crimes against civilians and its violations of international laws and conventions”. Furthermore, “the hands of its regional and international supporters must be stopped immediately”.
