(Adnkronos) – “China does not agree to or accept the regulation and has submitted a request to the dispute settlement mechanism of the World Trade Organization.” This was stated by a spokesperson for the Beijing Ministry of Commerce after the European Commission adopted a regulation introducing definitive tariffs on Chinese electric cars. The Asian giant says it “will take all necessary measures to resolutely protect the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies.”
“We hope the EU will adopt a constructive attitude, working with China,” the spokesperson added, “to quickly reach a mutually acceptable solution and avoid an escalation of friction.”
