(Adnkronos) – Steve Bannon has been released from federal prison just days before Election Day. The former adviser to Donald Trump, a staunch supporter of the former president, was greeted upon his release from the penitentiary by his daughter Maureen, CNN reports, citing sources.
In 2022, Bannon was convicted on two counts of contempt of Congress for refusing to comply with a subpoena from the House of Representatives committee investigating the January 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol.
Even when he was incarcerated in a Connecticut federal prison in July, Bannon had assured that he would continue to influence the presidential race from behind bars and that his podcast ‘War Room’ would continue to energize the Trump base.
War Room, which frequently appeared in Apple’s Top Podcasts before Bannon ended up in prison, has fallen off the charts since early July, according to data from Podchaser.
Although Bannon’s show is seen primarily as a motivator for the Trump base, podcast data from Edison Research found that while nearly half of Bannon’s audience is made up of Republicans, a third of listeners are independents.
