(Adnkronos) – The European Union and the United Kingdom have concluded technical negotiations on a bilateral agreement on cooperation on competition protection policies. The agreement will be a supplement to the already existing Trade and Cooperation Agreement, which provided for the possibility of a separate agreement in the field of competition. The agreement, when finalized, should allow, among other things, direct collaboration between the respective Antitrust authorities, the British one on the one hand and, on the other, the Competition Dg of the Commission and the individual authorities of the Member States, in investigations for the protection of competition.
