(Adnkronos) – The death toll from an attack on the army overnight in Chad by Boko Haram jihadists in Ngouboua on the border with Niger is at least 40. This was announced by the Chadian presidency in a note.
“An outpost housing over 200 soldiers was targeted by members of Boko Haram” in the west of the country. The attack “tragically resulted in the deaths of around 40 people,” the presidency said in a statement.
In response, the Chadian presidency today announced a new operation, ‘Haskanite,’ aimed at pursuing and tracking down the attackers. The last time the Chadian army came under similar attack was in March 2020. Operation ‘Colère de Bohoma’ was then launched which led to over a thousand deaths and the capture of many Boko Haram terrorists by the Chadian army.
